Qualification Standards
SOLO PARTICIPANT UNASSISTED
To qualify for entering the run, applicants must fulfil these requirements or request a NON-TRADITIONAL QUALIFIER (see below for more info): TWO OPTIONS, you only need to have one (1) of the two options. For 2021, a qualifying race must be completed between April 1st 2019 to the date of registering, or apply for a non-traditional qualifier (see below). Here are your 2 options:

CREWED PARTICIPANT

Application Process

Simply lodge your FREE application by clicking the preferred option in qualification standards, either traditional or non traditional qualifications, simply filling out the google document. Once you have completed the application it will generate an email to downunder135@gmail.com for review by the DU135 committee you will then receive one of two responses.
You will then be given registration access to enter the event from October 4th 2020 until sold out. Applicants who satisfy the requirements of minimum 100km with 2500m + of climbing will be accepted and not discounted. Non traditional applications may still be requested to strive for qualification in future events.

- Congratulations your application to the Down Under 135 has been successful etc
- Unfortunately at this stage we cannot offer you a start in Down Under 135 etc
You will then be given registration access to enter the event from October 4th 2020 until sold out. - There is NO LIMIT on the number of applications accepted
- The successful applicants who have met the qualification standards will be sent entry access information before August 1st 2018
- Online registrations will open to successful applicants on Sunday October 4th 2020 8am (Australian Eastern Standard Time)
- ONLY 35 starting positions will be made available for athletes, these positions will be on a fastest finger first basis with the first 40 athletes accepted Due to the 2020 cancellation some of these athletes have automatic entry making 2021 greatly restricted (numbers TBC)
- An additional 5 athletes will be given invitational entries at the sole discretion of the Down Under 135 Inc Race Committee
- A waiting list will be kept once the 40 athletes has been reached
- Athletes on the waiting list will be invited in the order of their failed registration
Rules & Requirements
Failure to adhere to the following rules will be grounds for disqualification from event. Race director’s decisions are final. Rules can be added to this list but will be communicated when this happens.
1. All participants must carry all mandatory gear at all times (see mandatory gear). Mandatory will not differ between solo and crewed runners.
2. Crewed participants must supply minimum of a two member support crew (see crews).
3. Each runner must be signed in and signed out of all nominated DU Hubs (checkpoints).
4. Pacers must not mule any gear for runners (runners to carry own mandatory & gear)
5. Solo participants must prepare drops bags including sleeping gear to checkin at Friday or Saturday's bib pick up for placement at course hubs.
6. Participants must wear their official race bib in a visible position at all times.
7.Participants must adhere to the strict cut off times in place at checkpoints. DU Hub captain’s decision is final. Runners must be collected by support crews from DU Hubs if cut off times are not met or if they withdraw (see cut off times). Solo participants have the same cutoffs as crewed but solo participants can be transported back to Blackwood event hub by event staff if they miss a cutoff or withdraw.
8. This is a mutual support event. Participants and support crews must offer assistance to others in distress.
9. Participants are responsible for arranging their own support crews who are able to meet them at checkpoints and need to have transport arrangements in place in the event of a withdrawal. Race crew will not be able to transport participants after withdrawal.
10. Participants are responsible for the actions of their crews and pacers at all times.
11. Use of your common sense is mandatory.
